Hello all,
I am new to the boards and to computer building. I just build a computer and im not sure if it is running to hot. The CPU seems to be running around 45-49C and the case is 40-45C idol. Is this ok? or do I need to cool it down?

Let me tell you what I did. The case is a antec proformence pro ( one of the new ones) mini tower. It came with 1 80mm fan the is located in the back of the case just under the power supply. This one is pulling air out. However, it does not seem to be blowing to much air out. I installed another 80mm fan in the front lower part of the case that is drawing air into the case. I put the harddrive on a harddrive cooling fan system( its 3 very small fans ) right under my CD Rom which is in the very top bay. The CPU is a athlon 1900xp and I used the fan and heatsink that came with it. I also used the conductive (sp?) tape that was on the bottom of the heatsink. Is this enough? I do not plan to overclock this system but I want to keep it as cool as I can. The fans I have in there now are all antec but they do NOT seem to be blowing that much air.

Your thoughts?

if you want you can get two faster fans to put in the case. the temps you are getting are perfectly normal.

how do you shoot the devil in the back? what happens if you miss? -verbal

Like these guys said, you can get hiher RPM fans. Other alternatives and/or additions to this include...

1. Getting a PCI slot blower. <A HREF="http://store.yahoo.com/inflowdirect/systemcooler.html" target="_new">See here for an example</A>.

A next set of choices are the more painful options, the cutting of youe case is involved.

2. A second option is to cut the existing fan holes larger to allow for a larger fan to be mounted. 60mm to 80mm or 80mm to 92mm. It isn't that hard.

3. You can cut off the metal which they use for the guard. It can be cut off and replaced by a grill. It allows for better airflow.

4. This is much more indepth, but you can cut a hole in the side panel of your case and mount a fan on it. Again there is the need for a grill. This method allows you to use 120mm fans and up.

So here are a few options that you can do. If you need more help on any one of them just post it here and I or someone else will help you.
