i'm a mechanical engineer, and I can't believe the weird ideas that people come up with when cooling their computers...

Basic advice... True 99% of the time

Memory heat spreaders don't do anything.
Either have all your case fans blowing IN at the BOTTOM of the case, or all of them blowing OUT at the TOP
Two 120mm case fans is plenty for all normal computers. If you have a big overclock or two graphics cards, you may need 3 fans.
The stock cooler is plenty for Intel processors up to and including a fast i5
If you are running such a big overclock that you need water cooling for your Intel CPU, you are also shortening your Intel CPUs life by excessive overclocking.
Don't worry about cable management causing overheating, unless of course you wrapped your cables round the heat sink.
A cheap case performs about the same as an expensive case.
Thermal paste - all of them perform about the same
Idle temperatures don't matter
