Hey guys the title explains my problem but I have a question. Probably a really dumb question but im pretty sure my fan stopped working and I was wondering if a laptop fan outside of the computer (one of the ones you put under the laptop) help with the solution until I got a new pc?

I don’t really take laptops apart and I’m afraid if I do I won’t be able to put it back together. I still need to use it for a little while longer until I can afford a better pc lol. Obviously best solution would be to replace cooling system but I’m just looking for other solutions before I attempt that because I don’t want to break anything 🙁

Solution
Maybe if you setup a blower (not a regular fan). Then ducted it to the fan intake. Forcing air through the heatsink.

Realistically, you need to replace the fan. Whether it is worth it depends on the age. You can get a used Core i7 1st or 2nd gen laptop in working condition. With Windows 10 and 8GB RAM for under $150 on eBay. Possibly with an SSD.
