Cooling the system

Hi everyone, currently my computer is facing a problem with overheating. When in idle mode, it sits around 50 degree Celsius and when I game with it, such as Dota 2, the frequent temperature is 100-103 C.

This is my rig's spec:
CPU: i3-3220
GPU: XFX 7870 DD Ghz 2GD5
Ram: 4G D3
PSU: Seasonic 620W 80 Bronze Plus
Mobo: MSI B75A-G43

Even when I turned the fan speed up to 100% in CCC, 48 degree in idle is as low as it can get, and my rig is only 1 month old or something near that figure. I may even try to use an electric fan to blow right at the side of my case to cool it.

Any help on lowering the temperature would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the CPU fan is spinning by visual inspection, if it is then the cooler may not be seated correctly Remove the cooler, clean and dust off with air only. Make sure the thermal paste on the cooler is still good (recommend re applying fresh paste) and re seat the cooler.

Thanks for the answer. I will remember the thermal paste, and should I use an external electric fan to cool the system? Together with the built-in cooler?

Hi. I am assuming you used the cooler that came with the processor. If you decide to remove and put new Paste on, Use 70% Isopropyl ( Rubbing ) alcohol to clean off the other stuff from the CPU & Heat sink. When applying the freash stuff, use no more than a small pea or half a grain of rice. It doesn't take much, just to fill in where the surface of the cap was milled to make beeter contact. I hhave seen folks that have used lapping compound and lapped it until the Cap had a mirror finish. Too much work for me.
