My main HD on my desktop required Chkdsk to be run on it about once a month
and I decided to install a new drive. The copy process went well using the
Seagate software. The system booted up and I thought everything was fine
until I tried my internet connection. After several hours of searching the
internet and trying various procedures, I gave up and ran a repair on XP.
The internet connection is fine now but XP no longer identifies my monitor
and display adaptor. XP is using a system default for both. The find new
hardware can not locate either of them. In device manager and control panel
there is not even a listing for monitor and display adaptor. I really don't
want to do a complete install of XP. Any way I can get XP to recognize the
hardware? Also, the boot time is considerably longer now.

Thanks
Neal

I tried that but it will not detect. I also tried to install the Matrox
driver and it could not find the card . Really strange. I think I am going
to have to do a complete install to solve this one.

Sometimes good things happen when you boot the system under safe mode and
uninstall or re-install drivers then. You may see a conflicting driver or
the problem device and be able to either uninstall it or update the driver.
If possible you may also try a driver roll back in regular or safe mode.

Either is easier then a complete restore of XP and doesn't really take much
time to try!

Good Luck,
Len
