My review of the tactical-RPG Cops 2170 is up here:
http://www.gamechronicles.com/reviews/pc/cops2170

From the home page there should be a link to the article, if that link
above doesn't work.

Final score = 4.5 out of 10.

Also I have written up a "review" of Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi
Academy on my blog which is here:

http://knightgames.blogspot.com

Final score for Jedi Academy: 8.8 out of 10.

Sorry, I kind of had to guess about the URL since I was at work and they
block access to gaming sites there.

Here is the working URL direct to the article.

http://www.gamechronicles.com/reviews/pc/cops2170/poweroflaw.htm

Of course, there WAS a link from the GC homepage, as I had mentioned. :)

I adjusted for age already. I don't think it's a 9.8 game. But then, I'm a
harsh grader, there's literally maybe 5 or 10 games in the history of PC
gaming I'd give a 9.8 to.

Such as... Planescape: Torment!!

(just looked, I actually gave PST a 9.6).

http://www.gamechronicles.com/reviews/pc/planescape/torment.htm

.. . .

On my scale, a 5.0 game is a game that was enjoyable but had too many flaws
to be great, or a game that was technically very solid but just didn't grab
me for whatever reason.

Might & Magic 9 would be about a 5.0, it's a fun game that deserved a lot
more polish. Due to all the problems with it, not to mention the fact that
it was dated before it was even out, I would reduce what might have been a
7 or an 8 to a 5.

Of course, my personal tastes can bias the results. That's the whole point
of a review, offering an opinion.

When you have Throw at full strength, it's fun to Grab people, point
them straight up, and Throw them - and watch them fly !

Plus, if a baddie is near a ledge, you can Grab them, walk forwards
until they dangle, and drop them.

Ok yeah, I use it for that, but I don't call that "passive" lol.

Well, that is why it is 'passive' and not passive. At Grip level 1, you
disable but do not harm. So I consider that a neutral Force Power Usage.
Dangling and choking is a whole different thing. And while it can be argued
that it doesn't matter since you'll end up killing them anyway, it is the
intent of causing pain and suffering vs. just quickly killing them that is
the dark vs. light argument for me.

I guess since you're a Jedi, and your saber is supposed to be your main
weapon, and you are not some trooper with a big pack, I had hoped for the
weapons loadout to have a bit more meaning. In SoFII Raven had the loadout,
and some limits to capacity (not many, but some). It looked (and they had
some indications early on) that they would do the same thing, with Jedi
Academy, perhaps going further. I know it doesn't matter, because I did all
of my 'sniping' with the pistol and everything else with the saber.

I do - the power lets you choke them to death, which we're not doing.

We're practically pacifists !

But in practical use it's a "drop over the cliff" power. I mean, you
can't actually choke any of the force-weilders to death. They just force-
push out of it. So your best hope is to hit them fast and then dump them
over a cliff before they can push out of it.

Many times I'd choke them, then move them near a cliff but they break out
before i can drop them. so then a just force-push them over. <evil grin>

I also like to Grip them, the Throw my lightsaber - this is pretty
much the only way to hit a Force user with it.

Yeah, that's handy for when there isn't a cliff to drop them over. ;)
