copy and paste shortcuts don't work in Office 2013

Copy and paste short cuts (crtl-c and crtl+v) have stopped working in office 2013. If it I copy with the shortcut from Word 2013 and then try to paste in Excel 2013, it freezes for a moment and I have to click outside the program to regain the cursor. Once I do that it actually pastes the item where I wanted to, but I have moved away from the program and must click back into Excel again!

Yes, it does work but the keyboard shortcuts also work for notepad, emails, etc. It is exclusively with Office 2013 programs that the shortcuts work so strangely.
Funny thing is that up to about two weeks ago, they worked fine!

start by doing a repair on your office 2013 install - and take it from there

And ofc - we assuming it a legit copy of Office. if not.. all bets are off.

I never set them up, but who knows... Is there a way you suggest I can check if any macros are set up, and then remove them? Working in an office situation, I at times get docs with macros included to work on for someone.

You have to enable the developer tab most likely it's simple though:
Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon > in the right hand box there should be an unchecked box named Developer > check it on > click OK.
Now after the view tab there should be a Developer Tab, click it and the first box on the left is your Macro area, if you click the Macros button it will show any available macros. It's possible there aren't any and there is something else causing this.

Good advice...I took the second link, reset my shortcuts to the particular command and now they work...except there is a real delay in when it pastes the text...and still at times I have to click off the doc to get it to actually paste the text. It seems like a buffer thing, some conflict with emptying the buffer on the page or conflict with the shortcut keys, as if they mean two different actions...Your thoughts?

Well what are you system specs?
If you're copying and pasting a lot of information it can take a bit.

No, the text I am copying and pasting often is only a few words. I reinstalled the entire Office 2013. No change. I reset all the copy and paste options to "text only" in the options-advanced menu of Word. No change. It would copy and paste but with a significant delay.
Finally with you tip above about macros, I went in and changed the ctrl+c and ctrl+v to alt+c and alt+v. WORKS PERFECTLY! Obviously, I have another program installed which uses the ctrl+ shortcuts.
So, now I can work without problems but I would love to know how to find the other programs using those shortcut keys. I have a lot installed: Adobe Creative Cloud, skype, remote desktop, filemaker, epson scan, postbox, pop-up dictionaries in English and Italian, etc., etc.
Any thoughts about how to find the programs using those shortcut combos?

There's no easy way as they aren't compiled in any one place.
Other than reading all their manuals and making a list in excel or something.
