Question Copy data and switch boot disk to new SSD

I bought a desktop from a friend who had only installed an HDD. I would like to put everything that is currently on the HDD onto a brand new SSD (including OS) and make it the C: drive (and boot disk), and then wipe the HDD and make it my D: drive. What is the easiest way to do this? Thank you
