I've had a new computer built and until now have not had any trouble, then all of a sudden Copy/Paste does not work. I've tried SFC and other fixes.
Could you please suggest something I could do?

I just returned to the forum to let you know that I solved the problem. I checked updates again then I checked advanced and there was an optional one. Once I clicked on it the driver allowed me to copy and paste. It was a latent update however, thank you for your cooperation. If anyone has any trouble copying and pasting with Windows 11 Pro please read this post. Also thank you for the information you gave me which may come in handy in the future; I should have given more information when I posted.

I made an error. Somehow the copy paste still does not work.
Could you please help?
Tio answer your question I copied the Pledge of allegiance from Google and pasted it to a text document.

No, you tried to copy it from someplace google linked you to.
Not "from google".

Link to where this was?

Are you using right click context menus or CTRL+C/V to attempt the copy and paste? Whichever one it is, try the other method and see if it works.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what would be causing that error. Does copy and paste work anywhere at all, or is it broken everywhere, no matter what you try to copy and no matter where you attempt to paste?

Is this issue only affecting file and folders, or also selected part of text. Can you give an explanation on what does work and what does not work here, as copy and paste can be many things?
Are there specific programs always open when this problem occurs?
Does it help rebooting Windows ?

I suggest checking the Clipboard.

Use WIN + V

FYI:

Clipboard

First check the clipboard. Then do a few copies from various sources. Be methodical and keep track of what you copied and its' source.

Then look in the Clipboard. Are the copies there?

The above link mentions a 24 "copy" limit - any chance that you have reached that limit?

Next try pasting those copies.

Determine if pasting works for all or some "copies".

You also can configure the Clipboard. Type "Clipboard" into the Search box. Check the configuration settings.

Lastly - try another known working keyboard. A faulty CTRL key or C or V key could be the culprit.

Try this;
Find Pledge of Allegiance with your browser, copy it and try to directly paste it to the open flash drive.
I cannot.

What is, as has been asked, the source site/link for the pledge?

"The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

Are you trying to copy an from an image and not text? Maybe a poster or display such as:

https://www.wcpss.net/domain/16897

= = = =

And you do need a target file (Word, Notepad) in which to paste the Pledge or other text.

You cannot simply paste (CRTL + V) the text to a drive and expect a file to be created.

Are you saying that I copy from a site after right clicking or cc then paste to Word and then send to the flash drive. I cannot paste to the flash drive directly? I hope that is the case.

You're faster than me 😎

I was proposing MS Word or similar, but maybe due to lack of my English skills --> Isn't the term "paragraph" only used in wysiwyg / word processing applications and not pure text like in Notepad ?
A Notepad file can have paragraphs as well.
Not as fancy as Word, but still there.

So I cannot paste to a flash drive. I have to copy and paste to a word or text like notepad first then send to a flash drive. I am sorry but I think I mistakenly double posted abut am grateful for the information.

Correct.

You can't just "paste" the content to the drive.
It must be contained in a "file" of some sort, and saved.

Notepad txt
Word doc
Some image jpg
etc etc....

I am back because I keep reading that copying data like the Pledge of Allegiance or any text then pasting it directly to the open flash drive can be done. I will take your word for it if you still feel this cannot be done.

I did not get a notification that you replied. I came to this site to find out you had replied.
Am I doing something wrong?
But thank you for confirming and I will study your referrals diligently.
