Copy speed becomes 0 kbps

PC Config:
Asus mobo
FX-6300
160 GB HD and 1 TB HD
Windows 8 pro

I recently bough new mobo and CPU, but i continued using the same OS installed with my old mobo and CPU. I noticed while copying files to my 1TB HD the copy speed fell gradually to 0 kbps, and the copying just stuck. I couldn't cancel it, couldn't restart my pc no matter what. Then i re-installed Windows 8 pro 64 bit, and im still getting the problem. The drive itself functions perfectly, but copying is the problem; it doesn't happen with any other drive.

Sounds like the first signs of a dying drive. Does it do the same thing if you try to copy something from the 1TB to the 1TB?

Is the 160GB HDD causing the problem? if yes, then it's a corrupted/damaged HDD
Try one time cleaning the 160GB HDD..

I think sourodip is on the right track. An old 160gb hdd is likely not to have tler and then won't error out. I would run a thorough drive scan on it. even checkdisk

yeah run the checkdisk utility,scan and fix registry errors with advanced system care

Thank you all, I just performed a thorough defrag on the drive and it solve the problem
