Hello, I have a USB drive that is almost full so I am trying to move some of my files to my back-up. However, some of the folders/ files are "write-protected" and it won't let me copy or move them. I have no idea how some of the folders became write-protected while others did not. When I go into properties and unclick the "read-only" tab then apply it, the setting is not saved and it goes right back to read-only. It is letting me delete the folders, just not copy them. Unfortunately, quite a few of these files are only saved to my USB. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

See if this does the trick:)

"Right-click on the folder containing the write-protected file. Click on "Properties."

Click on the "Security" tab. Then click "Advanced."

Click on your user account from the list and press "Edit." Click on "Allow" next to each of the permissions in the "Permissions" box.

Check the box to "Apply to subfolders" in the "Apply Onto" box. The settings are applied to the entire folder. This step is necessary because invisible files such as "Auto-Save" files associated with documents must also have their write-protection settings changed.

Press "OK" two times. The current user now has privileges to the write-protected file and can copy and move it."
