Cordless phone alternative

Hi All,

At my home I am using bsnl landline connection with broadband connected to a wifi router. The mobile network range is very less here.

I am looking for a cordless phone, but the less features and fast battery drainage issue made me think of a alternate solution. I just wanted to know, Is there any alternative phone/device to connect directly to wifi and make normal phone calls through the landline connection.

I saw wifi phones, does this provide my requirement.

There are plenty of land-line phones with wireless handsets with runtime in days.
Landline-to-WiFi-to-Handset - forget about that. And why you think that WiFi handset will eat less battery than a DECT handset?
