Hello,I've decided to purchase Asus Geforce GTX 560Ti 1GB. I'm a little concerned if my processor will bottleneck the gpu. Here are the specs-
GA G31M ES2L MOBO
Intel core 2 duo E7400 @ 3.3GHz
3GB DDR2 RAM
Will be playing crysis, metro 2033, Gta 4, Battlefield 3 and the likes @ 1366x768 resolution.Thanks.

Some charts to look at and an old article but for 2009 your CPU was still very nice.

Good article here except it does't show what the CPU performance is with AA off, but with all settings on high you will probably be CPU bottle necked.

CPU Hierarchy chart lists your CPU in this order:
Core 2 Extreme X6800
Core 2 Quad Q8200
Core 2 Duo E8300, E8200, E8190, E7500, E7400, E6850, E6750
Pentium G620

GTX 560 Ti
Minimum System Requirements:
PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0-compliant motherboard with one dual-width x16 graphics slot
Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors

Thanks and shouldn't i increase the AA And AF so as to make the card work more and prevent any possible situations of bottleneck? I saw somewhere that these are handled mostly by the gpu.

Including AA & AF no? There's just no point in purchasing this high end card if i can't the eye candy offered by these games. Will there really be any terrible drop in frame rate if i turn them on? I'm quite good at any fps above 40 but not below it. What do you think how much frame rate would i get as per my current configuration?

I really don't even think there will be much of a bottle neck but if there was and you don't want to upgrade your whole system then just plan on testing things out and disable AA if there is any slowdown at all. Honestly I never use AA since I can't tell the difference and I have a GTX580.

You should get the card you want and even if it's a little bottle necked you can upgrade the system later but your GPU will still be badass.

GTA4 definitely performs poorly on anything less than a quadcore. But it does not benefit from more than four either.I also heard that Battlefield 3 will be able to utilize more than four cores. So, your dual core will be a bottleneck. At this point, a fast quadcore is the best choice for gaming.

Thanks. That quite good to hear. :)

Okay but how much bottleneck? Any ideas? I'm not hoping for any wonders like 70-80 fps all the time, around 40-50 would be fine. Will my machine be able to provide that much?

After seeing that benchmark, i don't think it can even reach an average of 25fps. :(

Okay guys, let's keep GTA IV aside. Let's get on to the other mentioned ones. What do you think how much fps I'd be getting on those games mentioned in first post on high settings w/ atleast 2x AA and 8xAF ?

Now what do you mean by this- "PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0- compliant motherboard with
one dual-width x16 graphics
slot" especially the dual-width thing?
Isn't my motherboard compatible with the card? I've a PCI-E x16 slot currently occupied by a radeon 4350. I have seen a guy using the same mobo as mine and running EVGA GTX 570.

despite it's 3 years old it is still had plenty of single thread horse power. for game are mostly console ported these day which powerful cpu aint taking much of advantage because the lack of use physics/geometric lighting/smart AI. unless it's the game like crysis2/metro2033/gta4/rage or else it is hard to need any processor that's above athlon 240/e5200. plus amd still yet cant beat these old core 2 in single thread performance. if developer decide to take huge leap on hardware requirement and make i7 2600k/i7 990x as recommend processor it would be the end for amd and console market......

These look good and under budget too.. By the way, do you know about any CoolerMaster Version under the mentioned price range?? Its just that Corsair isn't much popular here and may take a little bit more time to get shipped whereas Coolermaster is readily available here..
Thanks

Yeah but it won't be that slow right? I can tolerate little bit.. Besides, I can always upgrade if the need arise..
