Hi There,

I just installed a Core 2 Duo E6600 on my system.

Other specs:
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
Mobo: P5B Deluxe Wi/Fi
RAM: Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
VGA: Geforce 8800 GTS

I am in the Bios and I am reading around 49C/120F CPU Temp. Is that high for a Core 2 Duo? Please let me know.

Also, I did not do any overclocking yet. The system is set to stock.

Thank you in advance,

With 49C idle your c2d will survive but to me its little bit on a high side.

What kind of cpu cooler are you using?
Try to adjust your cooler? or reapply your paste.
What kind of airflow do you have in your case?

If indeed that is your die temperature, then that is definitely high. The airflow in the 900 case is most certainly good; I don't think that's the cause.

As many have said, BIOS is notoriously unreliable in terms of reporting temperature accurately. Google and download Coretemp, and let us know what temperature that reports.

Good place to start. Let us know the idle temps and load temps. I also use Coretemp idle 44C and load 53C at 3.0ghz. Use ORTHOS, or Prime95 to get your c2d under load.

Hey Guys,

Ok I installed windows and core Temp Beta 0.94. I got the following readings:

Tjunction: 85C
Core #0: 32
Core #1: 32

I will work on getting a stress test reading.

Thanks for the help.
