Hey guys,

I have two laptops, a Dell Latitude E6400 with a Core 2 Duo P8700 processor (Mobile Intel 45 Express Chipset Family) and an IBM Thinkpad T61 with a Core 2 Duo T5270 processor (Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family). I know that the Core 2 Duo P8700 is a much better processor and that they both use the same socket. Do you guys think that I'm giving the Dell Latitude as a gift to someone, that it's okay to swap the processors since they both use the same socket p? Would I notice that much of an improvement with doing so? I would like to if it's possible. Would I run into any problems doing so? Do I need to install any new drivers or do anything other than swap out the processors physically?

Please let me know,
Thanks!

Both are Socket P
I have succesfully use 800FSB CPU on Intel PM45 (1066FSB) but i ask myself if 1066FSB CPU will work with Intel PM965... If it's works it can be a cheap solution to instal for example a cheap T9600 (30$) than an expensive X9000 (200$), both with 2 x 2.8GHz and 6MB L2 cache, on your T61. I found a topic on such thing but i'm not sure if it will helps....http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/605383-fsb-downclock-mod-intel-gl960-gl40-useful-info-pll-modders.html
