I have a 3 year old Fujitsu E8420 laptop with a Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz (that I use as my primary laptop)

After parting out another laptop, I have a Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz extra.

My question is:
Would it be worth it to attempt to upgrade my processor in this machine? I'm not sure if the extra 140MHz would justify disassembling this laptop (it's like one of those tiny Japanese cars). The processors are identical except for the clock speed, and I'm wondering if there would be a definite bonus to upgrading to this processor.

The machine is off warranty and I have already checked for compatibility.

^ I have to agree.

Unless you take apart and reassemble laptops everyday I would not even try it. Too much can go wrong for a tiny increase in performance you will not even notice.

I've done some major work on laptops in the past, but like you said too much could go wrong. Thank you for your input, I won't be upgrading the processor; there won't be enough gain from what I've heard.
