I am looking to upgrade my old Core 2 Duo E7500 to and new Ivy Bridge Core i5. I also need to upgrade the motherboard to accommodate a different socket and the RAM (DDR2 to DDR3) Do you think I will need to do a fresh install of Windows? I know going from AMD to Intel would certainly require a fresh install, but I am not sure if an upgrade would be the same case.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Very likely, you are doing a full Hardware overhaul and a fresh installation is better than tweaking around windows files for hours on end. Back up and fresh install is the easier and expiditious way of doing things.
