hey guys which one to get out of those two processors is there big difference between both cpu performance or is it the same
iam planning to order q9400 from ebay which costs rs1500
for 800 more i can get q9550 is it worh it?

my budget is around 3.5k which is not much at the moment

my current pc config

amd athlon x2 260 3.2 ghz
4gb DDR3 ram
Ati radeon 5770 1gb
corsair vs450


i have to buy new motherboard and cooler too for intel cpu
i wanted to buy pentium g4560 budget processor but i cant use my ddr3 rams as it only supports ddr4 and ddr3l

Attention. There are 775 mobos that work with DDR2 and others with DDR3. The problem is that those that work with DDR3 need a special type of DDR3 (I think it's called "low density", but I'm not sure). Consequently, if you want to continue using your DDR3 memory, make sure it is compatible with the mobo that you are going to acquire.

Q9400 has 2.66 GHZ and Q9550 has 2.83 GHZ. A little diference.

Some people have bought very cheap cpu xeon socket 771, which have been adapted to work on a 775 socket. Do not take it as a recommendation. It's just information.
