Hello guys just wandering about one budget laptop for my friend with that cpu.. He just need a simple laptop for web browsing, videos and light MS word..and i think that cpu should handle all that just 1.4ghz a bit scares me..im scared that it wont handle 1 or 2 tasks at once or takes ages to open programs or get stuck any ideas?

Solution
The i3-2365M is just fine for that task. It's great actually. If you want an in depth, I could explain but honestly; it's good for those needs.
Think about it: Even the 700 mhz singlecore Raspberry Pi can handle video decoding, web surfing and office work. So if we take in consideration a 2 core 4 thread CPU with more clock and way more IPC, your friend will have more than enought.

While whyso is right to say that the IGP isnt great; this is more of a comparison to gaming graphical setups. Though since this isnt for gaming, then there is no issues. The HD3000 in the i3 can support up to 2560x1600 video output; far above any video your friend will need to view; so video needs are easily in court.

Just doing basic tasks in a web browser is capable by something as lowly as even just a single core ARM11 running at 800MHz with a missing floating point pipeline. Trust me, the i3 will be more than sufficient for this task.

I'm just saying that there is no point going with an i3m ULV sandy bridge. Its old, EOL and unless you are getting a good price for it its not worth it.

A newer CPU will bring better battery life, and last quite a bit longer. The video decode engine in SB (HD 3000) has much been improved in newer models.

Will it do the job? Yes. Are there better alternatives? Yes.

OP, what is your budget and location?
