core i3 4150 bottleneck with r9 280x crossfire

Hello,
My mobo and cpu went off for warranty a day before Farcry 4 and dragonage inques was released.

I recieved a replacement mobo and temp processor until my model is back in stock.

Can i play everything maxed out (35fps+) or will the cpu be an issue....taking about farcry 4 and dragonage inq.


Old system was: i7 4790k on msi z97 pc mate mobo , 8gb dom platinum 2133 , r9 280x asus dcu2 in crossfire, ocz ssd . win 7

What i got now: i3 4150 on msi h87 guard pro, 8gb dom platinum 2133 , r9 280x asus dcu2 in crossfire, ocz ssd, win 10 tech preview

max out at 1080p with 35fps for only the games asked! everything else on 4790k used to run outstandingly...shadow of mordor 60fps all the time.....how much of a ditch am i looking at....1080p. r9 280x xcrossfire......

Well actually straight up an i3 will bottleneck 2 R9 280Xs however it will handle a single R9 280X just fine.

However there're some cases where there'll be bottlenecking like these games :

Metro LL :

Not that great of a bottleneck in the avg FPS ( which you should be looking at )

Arma 3 ( which is very CPU dependent ) :

Not a huge Bottleneck in AVG Fps.

Frame Variance appears to be a charm on the i3.

Bare in mind they're testing with a GTX titan , which indeed is a very strong match so with your single R9 280X ( which can max out any game at 1080p for the time being ) you should be fine.

However throw in a second R9 280X and you'll be severely bottlenecked so I'd recommend sticking with one R9 280X for the time being till you get the replacement.

just checked farcry 4 with dual 280x on i3, around 45-50fps not bad....i am out!

These votes are for price to performance and for people's opinions.

Here are the benchmarks for a titan to prove the case. ( The 7970 GHZ edition happens to be in fact the R9 280X , rebranded ).

I voted for the R9 290 and GTX 970 , that doesn't mean that the GTX 980 isn't better however for the extra money it's not justified .... Which is the case here

well i did also have 2 titans on the same processor but at 1080p its a waste, you want benchmarks in stuff, just checkout my facebook profile....point was can i3 hold it at 35fps , without AAA at 1080p....its a yes... agree with top luca! obviously it wont be as fast as a quadcore but it does the job at 30fps.....xfire 280x beats titan anyday...i aint crazy about fps. 60 is fine....

Thread fail.

The i3 can play nearly any game in nearly any conditions at 35FPS or better. Visual quality settings and the GPU used to achieve those visual quality settings have nothing to do with it.
