My friend gave me an oem dell computer with a Core i3 4150 and a stock heatsink, I recently bought a brand new Pentium G3258 and a Glacer 240l Cpu cooler and a define s case, My case now isn't very good. I installed the 4150 into my computer, but then I thought, why don't I put the G3258 into my computer since i'm getting a high end aio cooler I could overclock it to surpass the performance of the 4150, my only problem is, will it really outperform the 4150?

Current Specs:
Mobo: Z97 Ud3bkh Black Edition
Cpu:Core I3 4150
Gpu:Evga Gtx 960 2Gb
Ram:16 Gb HyperX 1600Mhz
Case: Sentey Gs-6090 negative airflow, all fans installed
HDD:1 tb WD Blue Drive

Solution
An overclocked Pentium would outperform the i3 in some tasks. I would never downgrade the i3 for a Pentium though, That would be a bad move IMO.
