Hello all!

I have a Core i5 6600K on an ASUS Z170-Pro (With the latest BIOS), and I have overclocked to 4.6GHz with VCore of 1.35V, the windows have booted up and everything seemed to be normal, so I decided to run Prime95, after 20 minutes running Prime95, the computer has restarted, so I have decided to go back with the original stock values of the processor. Then, I decided to run CPU-Z stress test with HWMonitor, when I started the stress test, all four cores were running on 3600MHz, which is right (Intel Turbo Boost only overclocks to 3.9GHz when 1 core is running) and temperature was also right (44ºC - 46ºC on stress test), but after 20 seconds running CPU-Z and HWMonitor, my screen started to flash and suddenly a black screen has appeared with the mouse pointer, after a time, the mouse pointer also has freezed and I had to restart manually pushing the restart button.

I don't know what's happening, this occurs only when I run CPU-Z stress test, but if I run AIDA64 stability test, it runs fine without a problem.

I am using the latest CPU-Z and HWMonitor.

What's wrong with my system? Is it my processor? Or CPU-Z bug?

Set everything to default first and run the tests again. If everthing works like a charm then, I would say that you need more Vcore to make the OC stable or that your CPU just cant run at that speed. Not every 6600k can get to the same speeds. Some are good for OC, some are avg. and ofc some are bad. Silicone lottery :)

You haven't understood my problem, I am running CPU-Z Stress Test with the default stock clock speed (3600MHz)...
It doesn't matter if I overclock my CPU or not. Everytime I ran CPU-Z Stress test my mouse pointer start to slown down and suddenly a black screen appears, there are NO restarts or BSODs. If I push the power button, the Windows ends the tasks normally and shuts down the computer.

I think it may be some software incompability... Maybe is my Norton Antivirus, I will disbale norton real time monitoring and see if that happens.

I have ran AIDA64 Stability Test for an hour and everything ran fine, here is a screenshot:

The mouse moving slowly during the test is normal, it hammers all threads unmercifully.

The system freezing is another issue. Drop back to testing with only one memory stick in required slot. If no change, try the other slot. Make sure mem at conservative clocks/timings.

The system is not freezing at all, when the black screen appears, I can move the mouse pointer for some time. I have changed the memory and the problem still occurs...

I don't think is a hardware problem, I have disabled on my task bar, some applications and when I run CPU-Z Stress Test, it runs fine without a problem, now I should determine which app is getting conflicted with CPU-Z.

Accordingly to AIDA64, my system is stabilized, watch out my screenshot on the last reply. I have ran Stability Test for over an hour!

It could be Corsair Engine Utility, MSI Afterburner/Riva Turner Statistics Server. I hope the developers of CPU-Z fix this incompatibility on the next version.

I can play heavy games without a crash, restartings or BSODs. I am just having problem with stress test from CPU-Z.
