core i5 -760 will it work in a 1156 board, if the board says core i5 compatible even though i5-760 is 1155 not 1156

can you recomend a motherboard with either AMD CPU with Gigabyte and or Asus mobo with pci express 2.0 x16 slot(s) within a 200$ price. For gaming. I was thinking of AMD FX-4300. and something else., maybe little less cpu due to oc and better mobo.

Honestly.. an 1156 board and cpu are still good parts.. I'm still rocking an i7 930 ( 1366 ) and running 2 5870 in crossfire.. and it still competes with current cpus and gpus I would replace the board and go from there

I can't find any boards that i like, all the new egg ones aren't asus or gigabyte and certain models that i like from that socket. Also i feel like i dislike my mobo as is and will sell my cpu, so unless you can show me where i can find those boards i will get a Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition and AM3 board and OC it and break even on a new mobo with selling cpu.

Here a number of boards that are available : http://www.pricewatch.com/gallery/motherboards/intel_p55

when it came out it was not a weird socket. Intel changes sockets every couple of years. you cannot use an 1155 board with an 1156 cpu.

Also by going to a 965 you will be downgrading proof: http://anandtech.com/bench/Product/102?vs=191

okay, i didn't know about pricewatch i'll look into some reviews, but TY for showing me.

Anyone know very good durable boards for 1156 socket? from pref gigabyte or Asus.

Gigabyte and Asus make very good boards and are my boards of choice.. just about any board around 120-180 will be a good board from those companies.
