Hi guys!

I'm about to buy a new budget gaming laptop, and my main concern is the CPU.

I've checked the market offers, and a I've found two laptops meeting my requirements.

  • The 1st one is a Dell Inspiron 7737, equipped with Core i5-4200U and Nvidia Geforce GT 750M GPU and 6 GB RAM.

  • The 2nd one is a Dell Inspiron 5547, equipped with Core i7-4510U and AMD RadeOn R7 M265 GPU and 6 GB RAM.

So my question is, which one would be better, if we take the fact into account, that I'll use it for gaming, and everyday stuff, and it never will be used for developing, rendering, programming and so on?

Thanks for your help in advance!

The processor clock speed of the i5 is only 1.6Ghz and the i7 is only 2Ghz. They're both dual core with hyper-threading and both have Turbo Boost (the i5 up to 2.6Ghz and the i7 up to 3.1Ghz). The i7 is clearly the better processor, but not enough to warrant a recommendation for gaming. These processors are typically found in Intel Ultrabooks.

The GT750m is the better GPU, but again, I won't recommend it for gaming purposes. You'll be playing at 720p and low-medium settings to achieve a playable frame rate.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a budget gaming laptop.

Thanks for youe rapid responses! I'm from Hungary, and I've written the word "budget", because I have insufficient funds for a real gaming laptop :) But I want to try out some of the new games, even if it'll run on medium or low settings. So, is the CPU or the GPU the more significant in this case? And my question is still actual: which machine would you recommend for me? Thank you very much!

Many thanks for your help people! Final question: Is it true that if I played on 1600x900 (instead of 1366x768), would the GPU more significant than the CPU?
