My system is as follows:

Core i7 7700K at 4.2GHz, 1.2V
16GB (2 x 8GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 at 3200MHz
Corsair H100i V2
Corsair RM850x
Asrock Fatal1ty Z270 gaming K6
MSI GeForce GTX 1070 gaming X
128 GB SSD
1TB HDD
5 Case fans

This is mt first ever PC. I was quite shocked when i saw that my CPU was running at around 50 degrees celsius at idle. I have heard of Kaby lake processors being very hot but is this odd for a Corsair H100i V2? I am using the thermal paste that was pre-applied to the cooler; could this be the problem? I would also like to hear feedback on the voltage. Could I have possibly tightened the cooler too much and thinned the thermal paste? Delidding is out of question for me so i would prefer that you dont suggest that.

Thanks,
Pandoriqa

Solution
When you say idle, is the cpu running around 0-1% usage in task manager? If it's running at 10-20% or higher then it's not idling. Especially when looking at a fresh build it's very possible that windows is still running background processes and updates.
