Hi everyone,

I've been having issues with my overclock. I've had my system set up for about 1 week and somedays it'll run perfect but otherdays it'll freeze up. I'm worried that i have a bad cpu batch that you can't push as hard or that another component is messing my system up.

Asus p6t
Core i7 920
Corsair XMS3 6 GB DDR3 1600
Corsair TX750 PSU
EVGA GTX 260 Super Clock
T.R.U.E with 1x fan

currently, my bios settings are on BCLK 150 with everything else on auto. I've tried manually adjusting VCORE as well as QPI/DRAM but to no avail. I've read most of the literature on getting you i7 to 4ghz but I don't want to push my PC that high. I just want to get to 3.6 which many people seem to get easily. Can you guys help me out with some guidelines on how to get there and maybe what voltages should be safe? My computer just locks up when it freezes, not the blue screen, does that make a difference?

When i had the bclk at 160 and everythign else auto, it would freeze up. Bad psu? bad memory? I would think 3.2 would be easily attainable with these processors. Thanks for your help in advance

for a simple OC of 3.6, try the following:

bclk 180
cpu multi 20x
ram multi 8x
vcore 1.2v
qpi/dram 1.2v
ram 1.6 or 1.64v

turn speedstep OFF
turn turbo OFF

boot to windows and test using prime95 for a couple of hours.

It's slightly concerning that you're just freezing up and not shown a blue screen though.
