Get the 10600 althought he 9700k is a champ in gaming and is similar to a 9900k. However it lacks threads which will come in handy when you do streaming or live recording while gaming. If you just plan on gaming and doing general desktop stuff get the 9700k but if you plan on doing more. Like Photoshop or Premiere or Gaming while streaming it with OBS or your choice of software grab the 10600k processor as it will provide you with threads which you might not need at this moment but will need in the future or depending on what your trying to mutlitask in. For example like I said gaming and recording at same time and what not. However if you just plan on gaming and exiting out and doing general desktop stuff grab the 9700k and save some money. Good Luck 💪🏽

Z490 will allow for speeds of 3200-3600, and beyond, but going beyond 3600 is getting into the realm of diminishing returns. 3600 CL16 is kind of a price/performance sweet spot for AMD, and given how inexpensive it can sometimes be, I would say so, for Intel as well. Regardless, you want at least DDR4 3200 CL16, which is pretty inexpensive, these days.

Between those two, I would get the i5 10600 + Z490 + kit of DDR4 3200 (which should allow you to pick a large number of upgrades -cpu wise- later on).

Other than that a Ryzen 7 3700X + B550/X570 + kit of DDR4 3200 will be my second choice for a workstation use on the budget.

Sorry I recommended a diferent CPU but considering the 9700K will fit in a basically "dead platform" I don't feel ok suggesting that one.

On the other hand the Z490 and B550/X570 chipset should support a new cpu gen later on.

Cheers

So I would go for Z490 + i5 10600K or i7 10700K + kit of 4x 8GB DDR4 3200
and pass AMD because of 10th gen nice benchmarks in both workstation and gaming!
'Officially', probably only 2933 MHz or so, but, the BIOS supports much higher, w/ quality dual stick/channel RAM kits of 4000-4600 MHz having been used with few issues...
This is the exact thing that confused me!
10th gen memory support : 2933Mhz
But the mobo support more than this.
So what memory frequency depends on?

Thanks for your AMD recommendation but I think in comparison with 10th gen of Intel it's a weak cpu!
or I have to wait for Zen3 cpus!

One more question : may Intel change the socket for next gen?

With intel changing socket for next?, Do you mean 11th gen?

If thats your question, it shouldn't change socket, at least far as we know right now. But with intel you never know for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now if you are thinking about a new 10nm or 7nm real new gen desktop intel cpus, they probably will change socket for that.

It's so stupid if they bring a socket type just for 1 gen , am I right?

If it's true , they won't release 10nm or 7nm till atleast 12th gen.

I really hope they can bring the new desktop chips, either be 10nm or 7nm soon.

They really need to push foward technology-wise once and for all, its been too long with the 14nm+++++ node

But yeah their current 9th (at least the i9 9900K) and 10th gen desktop chips are still kings of the gaming scene, and the 10th gen is a worth contender for a budget workstation too (with budget I mean not going with the HEDT cpus and hardware).

I think they do this because of they're still good at 14nm
