Well what are your purposes? If you bought it to game, then you wasted $100. An i5-3570k ($220) would have been more than sufficient for gaming, and it's very unlikely that you'd notice any sort of realistic performance increase between the two.

If you're doing photoshop or heavy video editing, or some other processor intensive task, then you'll see that money pay off a lot more as compared to gaming, though in those areas I'm not sure it'd be worth the extra $100 over the i5-3570k.

If all you're doing is watching videos, doing some word processing, and browsing the internet, then you need to go return that CPU now as you've wasted a...


Of course if you use it right, it's not designed for the average office PC, it's mainly for heavy software such as video editing.

By the way, exactly what is the point of this title? Core i7 or AMD? I mean most people don't consider AMD at all after the $200 price range, because above that there's usually little room for debate as to which offers the better performance. Intel wins hands down. Intel is a lot more efficient in general, but AMD packs a lot of punch at around the $120 - $160 range.
