Core multiplier wasn't applied

Hello everyone,

I tried to overclock my pc by increasing the bus speed from 100 to 103 and then the multiplier from 34 to 36. When I opened CPU-Z, it showed my new bus speed but the multiplier was still set to 34. I restarted to check my bios again and it is still set to 36.

My questions:
Does CPU-Z show the correct multiplier?
Is the multiplier "locked" from the inside? If not, why is it that CPU-Z doesn't show the new settings?

Thanks!

yes forget about the multiplier in the BIOS. it doesn't do anything. if it's stable at 106 bus speed then you're probably on the right track. it's also overclocking your ram though, just so you know.

i dunno. see what the core speed reads within cpu-z. bus speed should also change the frequency (bus x multiplier = core speed) but i'm really not sure if that messes with ram speeds and other components as well, like it would on a sandy/ivy bridge or haswell core i5/i7. i think it does.

edit - after a quick look, it looks like you can probably raise the bus speed a little bit but going too high could make things act whacky
