i'm looking for a gaming rig in $550 with the monitor. i hope i get the HD 6850, if not then HD6790 will have to do. 4 GB RAM, and 450W psu will do, ut im stuck on the processor. i wanna play mw3 and bf3 and newer games on high settings and a guy told me a quad core CPU would be best, but with my budget, i cant fit in i5 at the moment.i live in PAkistan where AMD is rarely availible, and if it even is, it costs more. plz help me with this, or if you want to, can you plz plz give me suggestions on my rig. feel free...thanks

a core i3 2100 is a good budget intel processor. for games it is equivelant, and in some games faster, than a phenom x4 at 3.5 ghz. Do not be dishartened that it is dual core, it has hyperthreading which helps a bit with threaded apps, and 2 very fast cores. That paired with a 6850 and 4 gig of ram will run pretty nicely.

There is little in the AMD range that can compete with Intel's offerings so its best to stick with something from the i3 / i5 range.

The i3 2100 is a great budget chip - the only negative point is the locked multiplier which drastically limits over clocking.

^ Agreed.
I wouldn't recommend 18.5" monitor because it has the resolution equivalent of a laptop: only 1366x768. It also defeats the purpose of getting HD 6850 or 6790.
Save some more money, get 21.5" or 23" (both have 1920x1080 resolution) and you will never regret it.

Intel 5-series (H55/H57/P55) chipsets are not compatible with Sandy Bridge CPUs so you have to look at 6-series (H61/H67/P67/Z68) chipsets only.

Intel DH67BL is a solid choice. It has USB 3.0 and even Lucid Virtu (GPU virtualization) which is invaluable for such an inexpensive board.

But if you don't care about Virtu, MSI H67MA-E45 is also worth a look (if you can find it in your country).
It's about the same price as DH67BL and it has about the same feature set (minus Virtu).
It has a little advantage in build quality, though; it uses all-solid capacitors. There aren't any legacy PCI slots but I don't think you'll need them either.

Harith (Haris?) you should have asked this question on a Pakistani tech forum. Everyone here will point to newegg even after you've told them you are from Pakistan.

Anyway this is what I came up with in your budget of Rs. 47,850 (550x 87). Prices are all local:

CPU core i3 2100 - 11,000
RAM Kingston value ram ddr3 1333MHz 4GBx1 - 2,250
Motherboard Intel Dh61WW - 6,100
HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB - 3,600
PSU ANTEC VP450-P 450W - 3,300
LCD LG E1940S 18.5” - 9,900
Case Generic case - 1,500
GPU XFX 6750 - 11,500
Total - 49,150

Slightly over budget but what can you do :ange:

dude thats just wat i was looking for...THANKS btw i dont know any good Pak gaming forums :(
btw will the 6750 run battlefield 3 on high??

I'd go at least 6770.

Make sure that ram is 1.5v or less.

I know it will cost more but I'd recommend a 22" monitor. The most satisfying part of a new computer is a big fat monitor and a 22" is pretty much the standard today.

You'll be using the GPU for video output so ignore the video output specs on the mobo. That does not apply to you.

Yes in your budget this is the sort of monitor you'll have to live with. The only other alternative is to buy a used one. You may be able to get a full hd monitor if you buy used.
