Corpse drops from missile fire?

Is the likelihood of monsters generating corpses affected by whether they
ae slain with melee or missile weapons? I'm asking because I have been
playing orcish archers recently with a modicum of success (dying due to
stupidity around level 20-ish) and they have all run into food problems
before they have reached the *slightly spoily place*.

I'm not talking about the effect of foos of hunting here, just the standard
missile or melee weapon.

There should be no difference between melee and missle.

And slightly spoily I suppose about generating more corpses...

If you have a food preservation over 60 you get a second chance for the
corpse to generate and a third chance for preservation over 90. (These
numbers are off memory, but I think they're right.)

As for hunting equipment, the effect is actually rather minor. There is
either a 1 in 5 or a 1 in 15 chance for you to get an extra chance for
the corpse to generate. I think one is for missles and one is for
weapons but I'm not sure which is which.
