Hello

I seemed to have aquired a corpse's hand item, which
has no apparent use.

I can equip it, just to keep my hand warm, nothing else.

It has stayed with me through to the next chapter, so do not
think it is a plot item.

Can someone give me a hint?

Yes, it's a plot item. If you're in the chapter after the one where you
found it it's worthless to you now. Grimgnaw would have liked to see it
once.
