Hey guys I got a i7 2600k, overclocking. I want to ask, does this picture show the correct cooling directions for that fans? I'm going to install another fan on the top of the PC which pulls air out, this is correct placement? Also, would i benefit in cooler temperatures if I placed another fan on the heatsink? If so, do I make the fan blow air out like I have labelled, so the first on the left of the heat sink blows hot air out through the back fan, and if I placed another fan on the heatsink, on the right side, blowing hot air out which then gets pulled up from the top fan? Or do I make the right fan blow cold air into the heat sink? Last question, what are those brackets called, the metal things that clip onto the fan that can be attached to the heatsink?

Also there's a fan on the front of the case which pulls cold air in correct?

Looks pretty good, I would agree with the other posters though:

You have a front case fan that is pulling cool air in - that is good.
You have a rear mounted case fan that is exhausting warm air - that is good.
You have a top mounted fan that is exhausting warm air - that is good!

What you may want to do, is take your CPU cooler fan, and put it on the the other side to pull cool air through the heatsink. This will improve your thermals, and over all case flow.

One last optional tip, you may want to flip your PSU over, so it brings in cool air from under the case ( as long as there is a dust filter under there).
you'll want the front fan to push air through the cooler, the back one to pull air out of the fins, and the case ones: top one pulling air from the case and back one pulling air from the case too.

it's ok, even better to have more fans pulling air out of the case instead of pushing air into it. the only ones pulling air from outside should be the front ones and the psu one at the bottom. make sure those have dust filters in front of them.

Look at my picture are all my directions correct... And by front fans you mean the ones literally I. The front of the casing..what about the heat sink should I put another fan on top of it on the other side, and would it be pushing air out like the first one that's on it, or would it blow air into it. Basically will a second heat sink fan be worth it.

This way would be better.

if you add another one in front of the cpu cooler you'll want it to push air towards the back.

even if you dont add this new one it would be best to move the one behind the cooler to the front for this role.

Sorry I'm confused... what do you mean best to the move the one behind the cooler to the front.. so the one that is currently on the heatsink.. youre saying it put it back on the front.. but i was thinking about putting ANOTHER fan on the heat sink so that theres two.. is anybody following what I am saying.

Hey I'm still very confused.. look at my fan thats on my heat sink. If I place it on the other side of the heat sink where the airrow is then the fan is going to point air up and out instead of through the heat sink.. so youre saying the fan should be pushing cold air through the heat sink..? Because that fan will not face towards the heat sink, it can only face out look at the design of it, if I move it on the other side of the heat sink then the air is going to push out and up. like in my first diagram.. Or are you saying that the way I have it set up currently is the way to go.. if so what about if i put another fan on the heat sink, on the right side, will this help cooling as well?

What are those metal things called that hold the fan onto the heat sink, the clips.

The cpu fan is on the wrong side. It should be on the front side, oriented exactly the same as the front intakes. This blows cold air through the heatsink, aimed at the rear exhaust fan which takes it and shoves it outside.
Ideally that fan on top should be at the back of the case, not the front. Right now it's fighting the cpu cooler fan for cold air.

Something like this

Sorry still confused.. on I have 4 fans currently.. I have one fan on the front of my case pulling cold air in.. check. I have one fan on the back of my case pulling the air out, I have one fan on the top of my case pulling air out . Isn't that the correct placement, you're saying I should move my top fan to the back, but I already have a fan in the back.. and finally the cpu fan on the heat sink.. you're saying the fan should be facing the heat sink pushing cold air through it instead of pulling hot air from it and out towards an exhaust fan? The problem is the fan that is on the heat sink, look at the picture, it only designed to face one way which is to pull air out of the heat sink so how do I make it face the heat sink to blow cold air as youre describing ?

He is saying the fan on your heatsink is actually blowing toward the front of your case, the arrows you have drawn for it are actually incorrect. The would be drawing air from the left (rear) of the case and blowing it through the cooler toward the right (front)....toward your DVD/optical drive.

The fan should be on the other side, pushing air through the heatsink toward the fan on the rear of the case.
