i am currently using a nvidia 8600gts and in two days i will be using msi 460gtx hawk. so can someone show me how to remove the drivers for the 8600 so i can install the driver for the 460?

also, i have another question, could i be possible that the 8600gts and 460gtx uses the same drivers? i went to nvidia website to see the latest update for my 8600gts and i also searched for the latest for 460gtx, they are identical i think, so does this mean that i dont have to uninstall any drivers?

Solution
No you need to uninstall the drivers if you want everrything to work correctly.

Download latest drivers from Nvidia for your operating system.

Download driver sweeper from Guru 3d
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)_d1655.html

Install Driver Sweeper

Go to controll panel and uninstall Nvidia display driver.
Reboot into safe mode and run driversweeper . Delete all left over Nvidia display driver fragments.
Shut down. Now remove old card and install new one.
Make sure to attach PCI-E power cable to card.

Boot computer and install the drivers you downloaded. Not the ones on the cd that came with the card.
Enjoy your new card.

why do you run in safe mode when you clean the drivers? also when you overlap drivers with newer ones, dont the old ones get rendered useless? or are they still being used also ( what i mean is, dont uninstall old drivers and install newer ones over it)
