Hi, my RX580 died a few days back. Don't have my receipt so I can't return it, I opened it up to check for physical signs of damage and found there was corrosion or something similar on one of the components.

It's the component circled here:

The capacitors nearby don't have any obvious damage. I've already taken a fair chunk of it off, I was wondering if maybe this was the cause of the card dying?

Thanks, Ryan.

Is it very humid where you live? It may be from heating up, then cooling down and attracting moisture. However I doubt that invaded the capacitor. My guess would be a loose or broken solder somewhere on the card. Or a failed part. Here is a very interesting video to watch. However any decision to use this method is up to you.

I suppose it is pretty humid, though none of my previous components have ever rusted. As fun as baking video cards sounds, I don't have a spare oven to try it out in :/.
