Hi guys, I have been using Windows XP now since it came out. Never ever have i seen this load of mysterious crap before. What happens now is everything is going normal and operating perfectly. This happened 2 weeks ago:I goto bed at night. I wake up the next morning. and i get a error msg before i see the Windows XP screen:
One or more of these files may have been corrupted: C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG
WTF i am so pissed off at this. The msg tells me to insert the Windows XP CD and hit "R" at the first screen prompt to repair. I do this and i get a MS-DOS Prompt after Windows SEtup loads. I don't know how to use MS-DOS so instead i load Windows XP into a different folder, then get all my valuable files, and then Wipe the Drive, reinstall the OS.
So im thinkin, since i play City of Heroes, an online MMORPG that i got hit with a virus. Fine, ok, i download AVG, and its a very awwsome, unobtrusive and FREE anti-virus program. This morning the same CRAP Happens.
I am pretty pissed off. I may Overclock my AMD Athlon 64, but i have been doing so ever since i have had Windows XP. I have been playing City of heroes for about 4 months, and this has never happened before. 2 weeks in a row OMFG.
What could possibly corrput the Windows System 32 folder? Can this result from Overclocking? Does anybody know how through the recovery console how to fix or recover this folder?
I would really appreciate any help
