corrupt file in drive C

sorry for my ignorance, im about to clean my disk and after i hit "Disk Cleanup" system said there's is a corrupt file in my drive also i cant do system restore, please help me how can i delete or fix this corrupt file so my drive will be fine and i want to avoid reinstalling my OS, what do i need to do?

open a command prompt with admin rights and type SFC /scannow and press enter

to do that,

Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
Right-click Command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.

it may be able to fix that corrupt file.

Hey there, Osiris_xiv.

Is that an OS corrupted file or you don't have any idea?

I'd suggest that you backup any important data which you might have on that drive (photos, documents, videos, etc.), just to be on the safe side. Once this is done you can go ahead and run "chkdsk". Here's how to do it:
1. Open CMD (Command Prompt) as administrator.
2. Type chkdsk C: /r /f and press "enter"
3. Wait for the process to finish.
4. It would be nice to make a screenshot of the results and post the image here.

Other than that you should download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test the drive for errors and bad sectors, to see if there's anything unusual.

i dont have idea if my OS is corrupted but before i can do system restore and clean disk with no problem, im thinking that i have downloaded a bad file that corrupt my drive is in possible because i use to download a lot but only in torrent

what did SFC report? its a sign if you have corrupt system files at least, they would be only ones that would cause disk cleanup to report that.

while chkdsk is running i saw that some file was deleted and recover at the end the result appear so fast that'swhy i couldnt read it, i think the corrupt file was fix now because i try the disk clean up and the system restore and its fine now, wow! You can see the result of the chkdsk in the windows event viewer. I believe it's under the "applications" log.

Well it seems like chkdsk was able to do its job. I hope you're not having problems with that drive anymore, but if there's still something going on, please let us know. And please remember to keep a backup of your most important files, so that you don't have to worry for your information in case something unexpected happens.
