Well, like a million other people I have a corrupt SD card that has all my important photos on it that weren't backed up...etc, etc...I'll spare you the sob story, but needless to say I'm trying to get these photos and videos back.
The card is a Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB SDHCI and was being used in a Nikon D90 when it crashed while taking a video.
Since that fateful day, when I reinserted the card into the camera, the screen reads "This memory card cannot be used. Card may be damaged. Insert another card."
Concerned, I tried inserting the card into the card slot on my Windows 8 PC. It reads it as an SD card and goes about "installing SD card" and I can then see SDHC ( F: ) under devices and drives in This PC, or whatever we call My Computer these days.
But that's where the joy ends. Anything I try to do with that drive results in the application hanging.
If I try to open the F drive it just sits there and won't open and explorer says not responding. If I try chkdsk it just sits there. Any recovery programs, same thing. I tried photorec and it doesn't get past the "Disk identification, please wait..." stage. I think whenever something tries to scan the drive it seems to kill the program.
If I eject the SD card then whatever program is running will complete and give results for any other drives it has found.
I've scanned forums and websites to find a solution but they all rely on the drive being able to at least be read but I can't get to that stage. Please help 🙁
