Hello
I was having issues with my computer today, although it ran ok yesterday. However one thing happened yesterday - I was using remote access to access the now broken computer. after I disconnected remote access it was displaying a black screen, it would not shut down if I pressed the button, so I had to force it to turn off. after that it booted back up ran ran just fine. I was considering moving everything to a ssd that I have lying around, so today I found some drives that I could temporarily use to clone the original hdd to the ssd. Well it booted alright but as soon as the desktop appeared everything loaded except for the toolbar and the screen wouls turn on and off every few seconds, as if I was making changes to the display driver or something. anyways, a dialog popped up with GamebarFT.exe - Bad image error oxc0000020 and that C:\Program files\windowsapps\microsoft.vclibs.140.00.VWdesktop_14.027810.0_x64-8weky3d8bbwe\MSVCP140.dll is missing or corrupt and cannot be found. Anyways I could not click on anything so I guess it was a system file messed up. I busted out my installation media and ran command prompt through it . I ran chkdsk c: /f and it reported that there was 0 bad sectors found and that it had repaired something. Well I thought ok that must have fixed it and tried to boot. Ugh... now it said that BOOTMGR image is corrupt. Well ok I restarted the installation media and ran the startup issues fixer. it said that it could not repair it, so I exited and tried rebooting the installation media, and it now ALSO does not boot and gives a bunch of errors - ARRRGHHH!!!! So now what do I do? I can make another install media, but what the heck busted everything? A virus? I will try to get those files off the corrupted hard drive if I manage to get things working on another hard drive, a total PITA because installing some of the programs that it had like autodesk inventor takes hours and fails half the time because .net is missing or something, how do I ensure that if there was a virus that wrecked things does not transfer into the new hard drive?
Thanks a lot!
