I was uploading photos from my SD card to an internet site so I could print my photos. in the process my computer was idle and my ISP shut itself down. When I opened it back up, my computer was showing several folders on my SD card with foreign type under them, and most of my photos and all of my videos are no longer showing up. I can only assume they are in these folders but don't know how to access anything.

Was your SD card inserted into a reader in the computer or in a reader attached to the computer by a USB cable ? If you cut the connection to an external device whilst transfering data then that data can be lost. Seeing gobbledook in folders could also be a sign of a virus. Do a scan of the computer with an anti virus program and also a scan with a clean up program such as Glary Utilities, then restart the computer and see if you can see your information in the folders. If it still shows strange type then your data has probably been corrupted. You can get it back by using a specialist program such as EaseUS data recovery. These programs are free to download for private use. Good luck :)
