I have a corrupted win2k system on a NEC VERSALX laptop.
several months ago the floppy drive went out.

I have floppy setup disks for the installation, but the
only esterna floppy drive I could find was a USB.
Unfortunately it required the drivers to be loaded from a
win. system.

I have the original install cd. How can I reinstall the
system? I have acces to another PC. Is there a way to
burn an installation CD and use it instead of floppies?

Thanx,

Lee Johnson

The Windows 2000 install CD-Rom is bootable. To do a clean install, either
boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four install
disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk
directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe
(from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Cannot use usb floppy drive until I can install drivers
using Windows XP or 2000.

Using CD I get messages in the middle of install.
"The file setup placed on your haed drive is not a valid
Windows 2000 system image. If you are installing from a
CD , there may be a problem with the windows CD."

I used this CD for the original install, but Had a floppy
drive to begin the setup. No floppy now.

PLease HELP!!!

I have a copy of WindowsXP, and am willing to use it, but
it will not boot.

Have one partition with important info on it that I need
to save!

1.) The Windows 2000 install CD-Rom is bootable.
2.) This may help for the recovery.

Set your BIOS to boot from CD, put the CD into your CDROM drive and power on
the machine, wait for the prompt that says "Press any key to boot from
CD...."
