I have an 8 gigabyte USB drive that corrupts any file I put on it. I have formatted it, used diskpart to create new partitions. I don't want to spend any money on buying a new one. BTW I also noticed a larger than normal capacitor in it. Thank you!

Solution
They're not repairable. Even if you could get it limping along again you could never trust anything written to it. Whether or not you wish to spend money on a replacement is completely irrelevant. It's dead. Replace it.

They do decide to go off-life at times.

You know you have to use "remove drive" from options list in Win Explorer? - the option that will give you the onscreen message "its now safe to remove your drive"

And THEN it is safe to remove the drive without possibly corrupting the content.
If that doesnt do it, the drive sadly went off-life. RIP.

Unfortunately it looks exactly like a former 2Gb drive i had.
It went off-life for good.

No tears. USB drives are cheap these days.
Or use SD flash cards. Cheap enough to have a couple of spares in the drawer.
