Corsair 200R, weird center peg. Will this mess up my mobo?

I'm worried about this peg in the middle where the my mobo is supposed to go. I have the MSI Z97 Pc Mate. My last board was broken (assumed it was a dead board), and i'm worried this might have had something to do with it. It fits in with one of the screw spots in the motherboard, and a little bit of the paint is scratched off. Is this dangerous? Will i have to remove this?

If it's sticking up as high as the standoffs (can't tell from photo), I would get rid of it. No use taking a risk with it causing a short.

It is a centering pin and replaces one of the standoffs. It's a nice feature. It could not possibly cause a short or a problem since it goes in a screw hole the same as a standoff. Do NOT cut it off.

how do i remove it? i've tried to ply it out with plyers and to screw it out, neither works. Is it unremovable?
