Hey guys. I'm planning on building a gaming PC really soon, and before I do, I've been looking into fan filters for my investment.

My corsair 500R case will consist of a total of 7 fans. Two 140mm on the top, one 140mm on the bottom, one 200m on the side (included), two 120mm on the front (included) and one 120mm on the back (included)

Now, I'm not planning to overclock, and have dropped my Z97 board because of it, so is this fan setup a little overkill?

I'll be having magnetic mesh filters on all of these fans, as my house gets pretty dusty.

Clearly, the fan filters will hinder my airflow, so I'm trying to pick the ones that hinder it the least.

My question is. Which filters, out of the bottom two, will be more likely to hinder my airflow the most for my top two 140mm outtake fans?

Two separate ones

Hi there Todd.

My 500R Fan Setup:
In my 500R, after getting my i7 4770K I have:
2x 120mm for my radiator(in the top),
2x included 120mm front fans,
1x included 200mm side fan
and the included rear 120mm fan.

Also, optionally, i have 2x 120mm fans mounted to the back of my hard drive trays, in a kind of push pull i guess you could say. My WD Black drive sits at around ambient temperature, and my SSD's sit at around 15C all the time.

Before i got the i7 + radiator, i had a FX 6300 with the stock cooler, so i only had the included fans. The case stayed cool all the time, there was usually cold air being pumped out the back, even while playing games. There was mildly warm air occasionally, but that was usually on hot days during the summer.
I would say that all you need are the included fans, but you could go with the ones in the top, to get the hot air out of the top of the case. Because heat rises, most of it will go out the top vents by itself anyway, but the fans will help keep it moving. You won't need the fan on the bottom, and it may not fit. I tried to install a 120mm x 25mm fan, but the PSU cables got in the way, so i gave up.

I would go with the second filter.

As an alternative, see if you can pick up a DEMCiflex 500R top panel filter:

It may cost slightly more, but it is an exact fit for the 500R top panel.

They also have a full kit for the entire case:
