Corsair 800W GS Series or Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W

Hi,

I was hoping to get some help on choosing a PSU. The PSU must be able to run both my current PC and the PC I intend to build at a later date. The choice is between these two PSU's;

Asus P5Q Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Processor overclocked to 3.4ghz
ATI Radeon 4870x2 Graphics
4GB DDR 2 800mhz RAM
Onboard sound

Future PC.

Intel Core i7 960 Processor
Asus P6X58D-E Motherboard
Nvidia GTX 570 Graphics Card
G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 RAM
Onboard Sound

Which is the better PSU as they cost the same pretty much?

I was just looking at the Thermaltake Toughpower on Tiger Direct. It's $69.99 after rebate and semi modular.

Both PSUs are made by CWT (Channel Well Technology) with Japanese capacitors on the primary and Taiwanese capacitors on the secondary.

I would choose the Thermaltake Toughpower XT Series 775W (TPX-775M) for its semi-modular design and 2-year longer warranty than the Corsair Gaming Series GS800 (CMPSU-800G).

+1 the thermaltake toughpower are good. Im actually surprised how cheap they are in your country compared to the Antecs I saw on that website. Thermaltake are way overpriced here in Australia.

I would also take the Thermaltake, again for the semi-modularity and ~1% voltage regulation on the 12V rail.

Thanks for the insight guys, ive actually looked at the reviews but the problem is they both get reviewed very favourably so its hard to choose between the two. Unfortunately noone has done a comparison with those 2 models involved.

Also thanks for the link to the cheaper product but I am english so it would cost more to ship than it would to buy in in the UK.

Thermaltake seems to be the winner but id still be happy to hear anyone elses opinion.

Should have gone with the Corsair. In Bangladesh, Thermaltake psus only have 1 year warranty, regardless of wattage and model. Corsair offers 2 yrs warranty on their gaming series psus in Bangladesh. So the choice is a no-brainer!

Anyone who reads this should go with the Thermaltake, I have a Corsair GS 800, and it just up and died after just over two years.
In the middle of playing a game, I left the room for a few minutes, I get back in the room, the computer is off. And if the Thermaltake
has the same parts in it, I'd make sure that there are some better parts in it. Otherwise, go with a brand that doesn't use the same crap.

I lost all trust in Corsair when they rolled out their overpriced junk CX series. Junk at a price. Wow.

Something like that happen to me too about Corsair. I bought the H100i and it worked for a week, i bought a Corsair memory 8GB kit and one them was defective and Corsair AX860i 80Plus PSU and it came defective too with a terrible electrical noise, all of this in the same order🙁
They just have overpriced items, lack of any quality control.

International warranty maybe 5 years... but the cost of RMA is so high that we (in Bangladesh) just dont do it. The local stores offer maximum 1 year warranty.
