corsair ax860 platinum

hi i have a question on corsair ax860 psu what does the platinum mean? i heard there is gold and bronze. my friend told me it doesnt take much power from the components or something. can someone give me a normal explanation ?

Platinum , Gold and bronze all refer to the efficiency of the Powersupply , in other words the higher the efficiency the less power is drawn from the wall to supply your PC with ample power ( less power loss ).

In all honesty , they don't make much of a difference towards what you're paying per year.
