[SOLVED] Corsair CS650M PSU & Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super OC

Hi all,

I have a terribly n00bish question, so please be merciful with the meme-making.

For years I've had a GTX 1080 that requires a single 8 pin output cable. I cannot for the life of me remember connecting it to the PSU, but it's connected via the unholy config shown in the pic.

So now I got the GTX 2080. I need to hook it up to an 8pin and a 6pin connector. I understand that I can somehow 'lego' the 6+2 into an 8 pin without using the silly Y shaped molex looking thing. How the hell do I fit those pieces together? Do I just first insert the 6 then the 2 in the last remaining sockets or do I fit the 6+2 together in advance?

I hope that I am making a little bit of sense, haven't slept in a while.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated!

the 6 pin part and the 2pin part both should have some sort of a join: a groove , a notch, etc. That way you can put them together so that they hold. But they way you insert them actually doesn't matter.

Many thanks, I'll try it at home. And that strange molexy Y thing...I don't need that, do I? Whatever on earth possessed me to click it in place way back when? Theoretically I've been oversupplying the GTX 1080 with power for years (2 X 6 pins).
