Hello, I'm not sure if I posted this in the correct section but I really need some advice. I bought my Corsair cs750w M PSU together with my unit and the psu is facing down. I have the carbide 500r case with the extra fans one nvidia gpu, i5 etc.

The noise started only a week after I was using the pc. At first it was continuous, then it went silent again. Other time I just never had it for days. Today, whenever I'm browsing the internet (chrome) which i would call an idle state, the psu starts a rattling noise at a random point, and it builds up so loud it virbrates. At a sudden point after a few seconds it just abruptly goes silent again. But it is so sudden like very very sudden. After this I hear a fan noise like it is hitting something or powering down like a propeller. But that one also goes silent after even a shorter period. After all this silence everything starts all over again. I am using an extension cord into another power cord. I've checked my pc plugging it directly into the house socket and it behaved the same way. Could something be broken? I have days when it never makes that sound. Mostly at night or saturdays afternoons. When either i would say that people are using electricity to clean or at night when they aren't or maybe they are? At night i meant past midnight.

I've read about this system that some Corsair Psus (maybe not the CS models) have that thing where they build up fans speed to heat up the psu or something?! when idle which could match my case but it is just too violent (the rattling build up noise). I checked if there was any dust in the psu, none so ever, I even raised the case a bit for a while to check if the air was getting out or you know just for ventilation purposes. It didn't change a thing. Checked it even before it was making the sound. And whenever it had to make it, it just made it.

Is my Psu fan or Psu dying? Should I RMA it? I have exams soon so I'd apreciate a fast response 🙁 Thank you for your support

P.S. sorry for my bad english

If its rattling its not right.
It doesnt matter if its the fan or not since you would void the warranty if you open it up.

Send it back, You can see if they will cross ship you a unit (send you the replacement before they get yours back) but this usually involves charging your CC for a new unit and then crediting the charge back when they receive yours.

Ok thank you I will, since I'm still under warranty. But there is a cause that this could return as I've read on many forums. The best thing would be to somehow change the brand. At least that's what they suggested. And that's how it stopped. People saying Cs, Cx and a few are underclassed porducts or something like that, made in china. I'd apreciate it if someone could confirm this but I'm sure only time will tell. I have another question, if my PSU dies will it hurt my components? I read that many modern PSUs just shutdown safely leaving the rest unharmed. Is that true? Thank you for the support :) Cheers
