Corsair CX550M - Good?

Planning to buy this psu, (THIS IS THE NEW GREY MODEL BTW)

Wanted to know if it'll be good. I will not be overclocking anything.

I stand corrected - The new CX series has received a refresh. They are much higher quality units than previous revision

it will easily handle that build and some. would be a great budget choice as it is a solid psu and semi-modular which is always nice.

No. Avoid the CX series if you intend to any sort of gaming or strenuous rendering. They are office PSU's designed for light work loads.

If you like going with Corsair, the HX series is a much better option.

the new cx series is a ton better than the older ones. they will easily handle even a lightly overclock system. please do some reading to bring yourself up to date here is tom's review of the new (grey label) cxm psu's

Yes, the newer CXms (450, 550 and 650) are decent units unlike thier older brethren.

Maybe they're updated now. The older models were junk. It's still a bronze rated unit either way. Spend a little bit more cash for something more efficient.

i agree. the old cx's were made with cheap chinese capacitors. the new 2016 semi modular psu's are fine units.

I put the bigger CX650M into my rig last week to replace a Corsair TX 650 from 2009, and I'm really happy with it. Works like a charm for my 4790K and GTX 970.
