Hey guys,

Today I bought my new PC, which I gave someone to build the components. I noticed that my PSU is on the bottom and that its fan is facing upwards (towrads GPU's fans).
The distance between them is 8.5cm (I messured).

I have:
Corsair CX600
Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3GB Dual OC (it has Dual Fans)
My computer chasis is Thermaltake MSI Commander (link to chasis)

I have read few Threads that maybe it should be better to face the fan of PSU downards. That is why I tried to open the computer myself and tried to position it. However, tha cables that come from PSU didnt allow me to do that, since now they are coming from inner side (just next to the motherboard) and I couldn't connect all the cables, because they are too close to motherboard.

Now since I cannot turn the PSU by myself, I am thinking of getting atleast 2 new vents for my computer (one in the front - intake, and second on the top - exhaust).

But I would like to hear, if this will result in some damage after a while ? Because in that case, I will send it back so that they rebuild it the way it should be - I didnt want to forcefully connect some cables.

Anyone has experience by having a computer setup for a longer time, with PSU and GPU fans facing each other?

Solution
Your case has air intake under the PSU. Flip that PSU over.

The PSU should be pulling fresh air from under the case and exhausting it out the back of the case without ever mixing air with anything in the case.
I have this very same setup. just put an output fan on the side by the GPU and it will be fine.

There is nothing to be afraid of. Almost every setup are like yours

EDIT : just so you know, with this setup my GPU temp goes from 40C idle to 66 Full load which are completely fine temperatures for a GPU.

Needs to be facing down.

Darmic what do you mean exactly?

My GPU is positioned so that the FANs of it are facing downards (facing PSU's fan with distance of 8.5cm) - is this what you need to now?

I couldn't take the photo soo quickly of the interior, but I draw a sketch of it, if it's helpful. If not, I will take picture tomorow.

Yes that is correct. OK I will do that. But I have to wait, since I dont want to do it alone (messy cable work). I also ordered additional 2 vents for the case so when they arrive I'll flip the PSU.

Currently I play games that heat the GPU to 40 degrees, I read that's not a lot. And when I touched the case or put a hand inside the case to check the air, it was really cold.

So in the meantime, I hope nothing wrong will happen, until those 2 vents arrive (next week).

A couple of weeks won't have any detrimental effects mate.
The way its set up at the moment just isn't optimal or efficient though.you have a big 120mm PSU fan & the two 90mm fans on the 280 pulling air in opposite directions.
These fans are fighting each other for air ,at best it creates a deadspot of stale air between the two.
More likely the bigger fan (especially being a set speed) will win out & force the GPU fans to work a lot harder under load, increasing both GPU & PSU temps by 5-10c.
An 'experienced' builder should know this setup isn't correct ,you as an inexperienced builder has queried it showing just that.
I would be annoyed if I'd paid for the building service though certainly - the fact the case has a PSU fan vent in the bottom makes it plainly obvious that the PSU fan should sit the other way round - why would anyone block off a fan vent with the solid side of the PSU is kind of beyond me.
